Family owned and operated

One workshop, run by the people who actually turn the spanners, not a branch of something bigger.

Licensed repairer MVRL60535

A licensed New South Wales motor vehicle repairer, so pink and blue slips are handled in house.

On the Barrier Highway

Cobar sits between Sydney and Broken Hill. A lot of our work is people who need to be moving again today.

What we do

A one stop workshop for light vehicles

Mechanical, electrical and fabrication work all happen on the same site, which means a job that turns into three jobs does not turn into three trips.

Pink and blue slip inspections

Rego inspections done on site, so you are not chasing a second workshop to get back on the road legally.

Advanced vehicle diagnostics

Proper fault finding rather than guesswork, which matters when the nearest alternative is a few hundred kilometres away.

Brake repairs

Pads, discs, lines and the rest, checked and replaced on light vehicles of every make.

Clutch repairs

Clutch diagnosis and replacement, including the sort of job that strands a traveller mid trip.

Steering and suspension

Bushes, shocks, springs and steering components, worked on hard by western New South Wales roads.

Transmission and diff repairs

Gearbox and differential work, from a leaking seal through to a rebuild.

Auto electrical repairs

Wiring, charging and electrical faults traced properly instead of parts being thrown at the problem.

Cooling system service and upgrades

Radiators, hoses and cooling upgrades, which is not optional in this part of the country.

Exhaust fabrication and modification

Custom exhaust work made and fitted in house rather than ordered in and hoped for.

Vehicle fit outs

Touring and work vehicle fit outs, built around how you actually use the vehicle.

Diesel tuning and dyno tuning

Diesel tuning, performance upgrades and dyno tuning for owners chasing more out of a vehicle.

Wheel alignments

Alignments to keep tyres lasting and the vehicle tracking straight on long highway runs.

Not sure whether something is in our wheelhouse? Ring the workshop and ask. If we cannot do it we will usually know who can.

The workshop

The blue shed on the edge of town

50Seven Automotive has been trading in Cobar since 2022, as a family owned and operated shop. It is the sort of workshop a town this size needs: one that can take on a rego inspection, a clutch, an auto electrical fault and a custom exhaust without sending any of them somewhere else.

The work runs from everyday servicing right through to diesel tuning, dyno work and one off fabrication. Plenty of it is for locals who need a ute reliable for work. A lot of it is for people passing through who did not plan on stopping at all.

You will find the shed by the signage and the paint. It is hard to miss.

Broken down out here

If you have stopped in Cobar and you did not mean to

A fair share of our work is travellers, caravanners and people towing who have had something let go on the Barrier Highway. We know what that day feels like, and we know the part you need is probably not on a shelf within four hundred kilometres.

01

We will look at it

Where there is any way to fit you in, we will. Several of our reviews are people who turned up without an appointment and were seen that day.

02

Parts come in overnight

When the part is not in town, we order it in overnight rather than leaving you sitting for a week waiting on a delivery run.

03

You get told what is going on

An honest diagnosis, what it will take, and where things are up to. No surprises at the counter.

“They managed to squeeze us in, diagnose the problem, order the part overnight and install it the next day to have us back on the road.”

Off road racing

We race what we work on

50Seven Automotive runs its own car in off road competition, and the workshop builds and preps it here in Cobar. In the Cliffhanger 4x4 Off Road event, driver Perry Stylianos and navigator Jim Walsh took the 50Seven car to tenth overall out of a field of eighty eight in the night stage before a brake failure ended their week.

The two events before that both finished in the top three in class. The 2025 Cliffhanger overall winners, Dynamic Racing, run a 50Seven Automotive sponsored car.

None of that is decoration. Building a car to survive a week of winching stages and creek runs is the same skill set that keeps a work ute going on western roads.

“I had people coming from Newcastle, Sydney and every weekend for the last three months there has been someone here helping me with the car.”
Perry Stylianos, speaking to The Cobar Weekly

Perry, Whitney and Josh were absolute legends. We have been travelling from the coast when a mates car broke down, they managed to squeeze us in, diagnose the problem, order the part overnight and install it the next day to have us back on the road. Their expertise, trustworthy knowledge and friendly manner was beyond compare. Can't thank them enough and would recommend them to anyone!

Outstanding service from the team at 50seven Automotive! My Isuzu suffered a broken clutch while travelling, and they got me back on the road incredibly quickly. Very honest diagnosis and advice about everything, The staff were honest, friendly, and kept me informed throughout the whole repair. They truly went above and beyond to help, even making an overnight delivery for parts and other professionals on standby just in case other things needed to be done, making a stressful situation much easier to deal with and I was back on the road the very next day! Highly recommend this workshop to anyone needing reliable mechanical repairs and genuine customer service. Thanks again for all your help!
